crew laundry

crew can use laundry for 24 ours disini crew can use washing machine, dryer machine and ironing machine and there is no charge for it crew hanya perlu mengeluarkan detergent for wash their cloth and it would take about one ours a half from wash until drying.

crew gym

for crew who like exercise like fitness, aerobic, and gym there is lot of fitness machine they can use. crew just came to gym center and start to doing what exercise they like and there is special for crew that the can use guest gym too which is the machine more complete then crew gym but, they can use guest gym after 10 pm after all guest finish using gym.

crew lounge

crew lounge same like crew bar in this place they sale alcoholic drinks, soft drinks,snack and water. in crew lounge seluruh crew berkumpul together drinks and searing dengan crew lainnya after tire finish from their work, or in this place they can celebrate their pesta ulang tahun or hanya untuk relax and listen the music.

crew center

in crew center they teach crew for more creative with their English they teach how to pronounce a word vocabulary and lot more. they teach us many kind of language and computer basic and if crew like watching movie in crew center they can borrow movie too by be the member of movie club.

crew Internet

it easy to crew to contact their family and friend by Internet. in cruise ships if we want use Internet we should buy a card which the price 20 dollar to use the Internet and we can use it just for 3 ours , if that to expensive for us we can still use Internet in out side when the cruise port in one place there is always a place for crew we call it crew center where in crew center the crew can use Internet with cheaper price only 2 dollar per ours.

crew mess

crew mess is the place for all crew get their food crew mess open in the morning at 07.00 o'clock when all crew start to working and get their breakfast, and crew mess will close at 09.00. in afternoon crew mess will open again at 11.00 at this time all crew start to get their lunch and it will be open until 01.30 and they close it again. in the evening they open it at 05.00 until 08.00 and at night they open it from 11.00 until 02.00 in the morning.

crew smoking area

for crew who like smoking there is some place for them for smoking. for respect the people who not smoking company make a place for them to smoking on their break time or relax time they can bring coffee or tea on smoking area and enjoy their self in this place with out menggangu the other people who not smoking.

crew MSA

is the place for the crew to request anything about their job.in here crew can ask for deposit box, booking ticket for vacation, asking when their sign off date, asking for request form, change cabin, renew their key if it lost, change money, transfer money,and anything that crew need.

crew phone

in every cabin they prepare phone for crew so crew have lot of change to contact their family and friend. if crew want use this phone there is only 10 dollar per phone card and crew can use it for 45 minute to call home but it Little bit difficult to get line specially on break time because there lot of crew use cabin phone so some time we should wait and try many time to get signal.

crew ATM

sebelumnya company pay all crew salary directly but now they ask us to use ATM so every two week we can see how much our salary at ATM it more save because crew can transfer or just keep their money and when vacation they can take all their money. they make this rule because there is incident that one crew lost his money in cabin and no one know who they will blame. and that not just in that ship but also happen in other ships so for protection company make decision to transfer our money by ATM for more safety and that easy for us too because we can use that ATM for shopping.

infirmary

infirmary is same like hospital jika ada crew yang sick they go to infirmary to check their condition in here doctor will decide this crew can work or not, in infirmary crew also can ask for medicine like paint relive, banded, condom, lips balm, and aspirin.

sadness bekerja di cruise ships

sama seperti bekerja ditempat lainnya ada suka dan duka yang kita alami. begitu pula working on cruise ships happiness and sadness always came every time.sekarang I'll like to tell about sadness bekerja on cruise ships . bisa kalian bayangkan for the first time you work with new atmosphere new people and new situation that was different from your current job. tentu saja untuk pertama kalinya kita akan merasa confuse because you should adapted with that all and in this situation you will feel tidak nyaman. like my experience saya memiliki teman yang untuk pertama kalinya bekerja di kapal pesiar and he got on galley steward position mungkin ketika ia melamar tidak memiliki cukup informasi about what is galley steward and what is galley steward do. dan on the first day of his work he very surprise that he should working selama sepuluh jam dari morning until evening dengan dua jam waktu istirahat, he start at six o'clock in he morning and finish six o'clock in the evening and pekerjaannya sangatlah berat juga, he should mencuci every plate, glasses, pan, cutlery, and cook equipment that guest and crew used. and tebak apa yang terjadi, every single day he cry and ask to go home, until one week he can't survive anymore and memutuskan untuk berhenti from his job and not only that, my other sadness experience is happen to my friend from laundry department. bisa kalian bayangkan bagaimana beratnya bekerja sebagai laundryman khususnya when embarkation day (embarkation day is the day when seluruh tamu yang menginap di kapal pulang dan melakukan check-out secara bersamaan and the new guest came to replace past guest) lot of thing should they washes like sheet, blanket, Duffie cover, pillow case, towel and napkin. there will like a mountain and menutupi seluruh laundry, and they just have two day to finish that all, in this time they run of time. because bekerja dengan berlomba dengan waktu they will sweet, tired, and stess. setiap ada sesuatu atau masalah yang kecil akan membuat mereka cepat menjadi marah, and on that time there is one linen valet (the person who collect all linen kotor from cabin and membawanya turun untuk dicuci di laundry) linen valet itu menaruh and mencampur linen itu with handuk yang kotor because there no more space and seorang laundryman melihat what that linen valet doing and they start to argue. just for information in cruise ships there is ada peraturan that you can argue but you can't and forbidden untuk berkelahi atau memukul your friend and jika kita melakukannya directly the security will proses you and the company will fired you immediately and sent you home. dalam kasus ini mungkin the laundryman payah dan lelah and that make him so emotional and start fighting and hit the linen valet and disana banyak yang melihat dan menjadi saksi that incident what that laundryman doing is breaking the rule because he sudah berkelahi dan memukul linen valet until terluka. and on the next day security came to his cabin ask him to packing seluruh barang-barangnya and they sent that laundryman back home.

my other experience is one of my friend assistant state room steward (a person who's help cabin steward clean guest cabin) got problem when he work at guest area seorang tamu menemukan dompet and give it to him karena tamu tersebut tidak tahu kemana harus mengembalikan dan melapor penemuan dompet itu. because very busy he put that wallet on his pocket and forget to give it to information desk. in cruise ships every lost and found tidak masalah seberapa penting barang itu yang mana mungkin untuk kita tidak penting tapi bagi tamu mungkin memiliki sejarah tersendiri yang mana yang kita temukan you should return it to information desk. because maybe the guest looking for that thing. so sampai ia menyelesaikan pekerjaan and duty he forget that he has wallet didalam kantong sakunya . then he back to his cabin and take a rest. after few ours security came and knock his cabin and ask if he found that wallet , he very surprise and scare and he tell the chronology from the first way he forget return that wallet to information desk but the security didn't want to hear what his reason because in this case he take the wallet and he didn't return it to information desk dan itu artinya ia telah bermaksud untuk mencuri dompet tersebut. and what happen next day, the company fired him because that mistake.

some time life is tidak adil but from my story kalian tahu bahwa working in cruise ships is not so easy like people said, it so hard many thing can be happen and you should prepare your self for that not because working on cruse ships you got lot of money but you must think what kind of experience you will get so prepare your self first.

story of indonesian crew

working at cruise ships spesially yang berada di negera uncle sam maybe merupakan dream bagi every people khususnya mereka yang menggeluti dunia tourism industry and traveling but perlu kita ingat bahwa bekerja di cruise ships is not same as work as hotel in the land. in cruise ships tuntutan kerja lebih keras dimana kita harus menyelesaikan pekerjaan sebaik dan sedetil mungkin sedangkan time yang diberikah sangat limited. jadi diperlukan kecepatan dan kecakapan kita dalam bekerja. karena itu seringkali stress menimpa kita karena presure dari pekerjaan belum lagi supervisor kita yang superduper cerewet and one more rasa rindu akan tanah air, family, food yang membuat kita semakin jemu dan bete abis. but one thing we should remember bahwa bekerja di cruise ships we should prepare our mental and kecakapan kita dalam berkomunikasi with english if not jangan coba-coba apply it because in cruise ships kita akan berhadapan and working with people from beragam country mulai dari negara asia seperti philipine, tailand, india, dan china, dengan negara amerika latin seperti peru, panama, dan jamaika serta negara eropa seperti italia, romania, bulgaria, russia serta england yang notabene use english dalam berkomunikasi sehingga jika kita not understand with what they said mereka akan meremekan kita dan itu berdampak pada pandangan mereka about our people yang bodoh dan tidak bisa speaking english dengan baik dan inipula have effect dalam pekerjaan kita kita akan mengalami kesulitan apalagi supervisor kita tidak mau tahu yang they want we finished our work with the time that they give to us otomatis waktu akan terbuang percuma karena supervisor memberi penjelasan tapi kita masih meraba-raba apa yang mereka ingin kita lakukan dan ini jadi petaka bagi kelangsungan karier kita di masa depan dan untuk promosi ke posisis yang lebih tinggi sudah pasti bye- bye, karena ketidak cakapan kita akan bahasa dan kalah saing with our coworker from other country.

perlu diingat jika berkeinginan working at cruise ships we should flexible depand where our position on that time, tapi biasanya for asian people mereka akan menempatkan kita pada posisi bottom terlebih dahulu like laundry, gailey steward, and hotel steward. berbeda with people from eropa mereka dengan gampang menduduki position seperti assistent waiter dan supervisor ini dapat dimengerti karena company think mereka berkulit putih dan berbahasa inggris lebih baik dari kita padahal belum tentu mereka punya experince and skill di posisi tersebut sedangkan kita merangkak dari bawah walaupun kita memiliki skill sebagai waiter kita harus memulai sebagai tukang cuci piring terlebih dahulu atau gailey steward for the first contract maka untuk bisa menjadi asistent waiter we should wait until pass our two contract itupun belum tentu bisa karena competition dengan rekan-rekan lain yang kontraknya lebih dulu and not get promotion yet walaupun mereka lebih dari tiga kontrak.

jadi disini kita harus jeli jika ingin cepat get promotion, we should brave, kita harus berani speak directly with our surervisor jika tidak ditanggapi try and try again and if necessary we speak directly to our manager beranilah berbicara karena mereka appreciate if we asking for our promotion it mean kita ingin berkembang tidak ingin stay di bottom level forever because if we just silent they will think kita sudah senang dan save working pada posisi kita saat itu padahal our porpose working at cruise ships adalah untuk meraup dolar as much as we could dan dengan get promotion gaji kita akan meningkat pula dan pekerjaan kita akan sedikit lebih ringan.

sebagai orang who working at cruise ships and still aktif banyak suka dan duka yang saya alami but disini saya mengenyampingkan duka dan saya ambil sukanya terlebih dahulu where in cruise ships saya banyak mendapat wawasan dan pengetahuan meet with lot of peoples from difrend countrys and interaction with them saya yang mula-mula agak shy and afraid jadi merasa tertantang untuk berani berkomunikasi dengan mereka. tapi jika diperhatikan banyak saya melihat teman-teman bukan hanya from our country tapi juga from other countrys membentuk group and comunitas sendiri ini bisa diliha t when we get breakfast, lunch and dinner at crew mess (tempat dimana kita para crew untuk makan) mereka berkumpul menurut kebangsaannya, mereka berbicara dengan bahasa mereka sendiri. ini dapat dimengerti karena dengan gathering with people from same nation kita lebih leluasa dalam berbicara dan saling sharing . sharing disini dalam arti jika ada new friend yang baru datang mereka selalu membawa makanan dari rumah like sambal, saur, kacang and ikan teri yang memang that food it very dificuld to find at ship maka disana saatnya kita berbagi.

adapun the other fun for us adalah saat port day atau saat kapal merapat kedermaga saat itu tamu akan turun untuk berbelanja, tour, and have fun. sebagai crew kita punya hak untuk hangout dan ikut merasakan suasana tempat wisata itu asalkan tidak berbenturan dengan schedule kita when we work or when we ger portmaning jika tidak kita tidak bisa keluar. tapi tidak perlu kawatir jika portmaning kita bisa pinjam id from our friend and next cruise kita juga bisa keluar karena cruise ships akan kembali ketempat itu setiap minggu.
